How this tool helps

Choose a category, difficulty, and 1–10 prompts. Each of the 24 filter combinations contains ten independent, actable concepts.

240 independent prompts

Six categories × four real difficulty levels

Hidden cards with individual reveal and copy

What is this charades generator?

It draws from 240 English prompts made for silent acting games. The catalog has six categories—actions, objects, animals, occupations, everyday situations, and characters or roles—and four difficulty levels. Every category/difficulty combination contains ten independent concepts. Cards begin hidden so the next performer can reveal one without showing the group. Choose one category when a class is practising a particular kind of word, or leave the categories open for a varied round. Choose a level to match the room rather than to make a rule about age. The page provides prompts, filtering, private reveal, and copying; players still set the timer, teams, scoring, and any house rules about sounds, pointing, or props.

Useful for

Families and party groups

Start a round without writing and folding paper slips.

Teachers and learners

Practise vocabulary through movement and guessing.

Teams and improv groups

Use short, low-setup prompts for warm-ups.

How the catalog is designed

01

Real difficulty differences

Easy has familiar prompts with one obvious gesture; expert needs specialized knowledge or scene-setting.

02

Independent concepts

Difficulty is not manufactured by repeating one noun with “in a hurry” or another generic modifier.

03

Exact-language output

Each locale has its own wording for the same stable concept IDs; missing data never falls back silently to English.

Ways to play

Quick family round

Choose easy actions, animals, or objects and draw one card per turn.

The performer reveals the card privately, then acts without speaking.

Mixed-difficulty team game

Use all categories and draw several hidden cards before the round.

Agree on a timer and scoring rule before play; the generator does not impose either one.

How to use the controls

  1. 1.

    Choose difficulty

Easy is immediately recognizable; medium needs a few clues; hard needs a sequence; expert needs context.

  2. 2.

    Choose category

Use all six categories or focus the room on one kind of prompt.

  3. 3.

    Generate hidden cards

Draw 1–10 unique prompts. Each answer stays hidden until its reveal button is pressed.

  4. 4.

    Act and guess

Use body movement and gestures. Decide locally whether sounds, pointing, props, or mouthing are allowed.

Charades generator FAQ

How many prompts are included?

There are 240 per locale: ten in every combination of six categories and four difficulty levels.

What do the difficulty levels mean?

They measure performability, guessability, familiarity, and the number of clues needed—not word length.

Does the catalog include celebrities or copyrighted titles?

No. This release avoids real people, brands, and named film, book, song, or fictional-character titles.

Can a draw repeat a prompt?

No. Sampling is without replacement inside one draw. A later draw can return an earlier prompt.

Where did the prompts come from?

They are project-authored, model-assisted provisional concepts with independent quality review. They are not certified by human or native-language editors.

About this release

The July 2026 catalog uses 240 stable concepts across all nine locales. Localized wording can vary to stay natural and actable while category and difficulty remain aligned. It is a party-game prompt set, not a cultural or language authority. The collection deliberately stays with generic, performable concepts instead of named people, brands, or titles. That makes a card easier to use with a mixed group and avoids treating recognition of a franchise as the challenge. A result is a starting point for play, not an instruction about what gestures mean in every setting. If a prompt is unsuitable for the room, draw another card or agree to skip it.

A diverse group plays charades as one person acts out a silent clue while others guess with blank prompt cards.
